Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos won the inaugural Rose international prize for choreography in 2025, worth £40,000. A judging panel including Arlene Phillips and PJ Harvey selected him from four finalists for his piece Larsen C, described as a shadowy, trance-like dance named after an Antarctic ice shelf. Papadopoulos distributed much of the prize money to his dancers, citing low pay in Greece. He used the remainder to fund his new production. His work is touring internationally. He spoke from Shanghai ahead of the UK premiere of My Fierce Ignorant Step.
