Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will co-host the 2027 season of Junior MasterChef Australia alongside fellow host Poh Ling Yeow, Channel 10 confirmed. She will appear as a "special guest" on the show.
Meghan said she "can't wait" to take part after guest-judging MasterChef Australia last year, which drew the show's largest Sunday audience since 2023 according to a statement from Paramount ANZ. She noted in a statement: "I love cooking with my own kids, so seeing what these young stars create in the kitchen is going to be a lot of fun."
The BBC understands Meghan was not paid for her previous MasterChef appearance. Network 10 did not respond to questions about whether she will be paid for co-hosting Junior MasterChef.
Meghan and Prince Harry toured Australia for four days in April, when her initial MasterChef guest appearance was announced. The couple relocated from California back to the UK in August after settling in California in March 2020, when they stepped back from royal duties.
The co-hosting announcement arrives amid scrutiny following allegations of child sexual abuse against Meghan's father, Thomas Markle. He denies the accusations and has rejected them as "lies" used to destroy his reputation. The BBC understands Meghan broke contact with her father last year after telling him she and authorities knew he had abused young girls.
Meghan has pursued media careers since leaving the UK, including a high-profile Oprah Winfrey interview and deals with Netflix and Spotify. Her Netflix lifestyle and cookery show, With Love, Meghan, ran for two series and a Christmas special but did not perform well with audiences. Her lifestyle brand As Ever, which includes a food range, ended its partnership with Netflix in March. Last year her trademark was registered in Australia across more than a dozen product categories including cookware and table linen.
