Rob Brydon returns to television in the new comedy "Bill's Included," playing a character so close to himself that it reflects his entire career. At 61, Brydon describes himself as "a nice person" and "a people-pleaser," qualities that have defined his on-screen presence for decades.

In the six-part series, Brydon's character Bill is left by his wife, who runs off with the gardener. Rather than fire the man, Bill says "I like him," a response typical of the actor's persona. Bill then takes in four university student lodgers after his life is upended. Brydon told the Guardian that his civic mindedness and loneliness drive the character's decisions. The actor has previously rejected Hollywood roles and refused to play villains, staying true to the affable image he has cultivated throughout his career.
