Peven Everett, a Chicago house-music producer and multi-instrumentalist, performed at the We Out Here festival in Dorset in August, playing "Gabriel," a spiritual garage-house track he co-created with producer Roy Davis Jr. The track became a UK club hit in the mid-90s.

Everett has released more than 500 tracks across house, neo-soul, hip-hop, samba and other genres. A documentary follows his journey from child trumpet prodigy to dance-music figure.

Damon Albarn of Gorillaz calls Everett "a once-in-a-generation voice" and "a great inspiration to us all." We Out Here founder Gilles Peterson compares him to a "Prince-type figure" alongside Detroit producers Moodymann and Amp Fiddler.
