George Fenton, the British composer behind the scores for Gandhi, Dangerous Liaisons and Groundhog Day, has died aged 76. His family said his death was unexpected but did not disclose a cause.
Fenton earned five Oscar nominations across his career. He composed music for more than 100 films and worked on 18 projects with director Ken Loach. Beyond cinema, he created themes for BBC television news and scored the BBC natural history series Blue Planet.
His family said he is survived by various relatives and "a life of music".
